Instruction

Céline Frisch harpsichordist

Céline Frisch was born in Marseille. She began the harpsichord at the age of 6, and earned her first diplomas from the Conservatory in Aix-en-Province. She then honed her skills at the Schola Cantorum in Basel in the classes of Andreas Staier and Jesper Christensen. Céline was a « Juventus » prize-winner in 1996, and the first harpsichordist to be nominated for the French « Classical Music Victories » prize in 2002. Since then she has led a brilliant career as a soloist as well as a chamber musician in the Café Zimmermann ensemble, which she co-founded with Pablo Valetti.

She appears in the most prestigious venues in France and abroad, and is renowned for her interpretations of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach; she has also explored French harpsichord repertoire, the English Virginalists, and contemporary harpsichord music. Her many recordings have earned the highest praise from the specialized press, and are considered to be definitive versions.

Céline Frisch taught the harpsichord from 2020 to 2023 at the University of Vienna, and has been awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
